Spasmodic torticollis: progress in treatment and awareness help outlook

Article Abstract:

Involuntary head movements, caused by muscular contractions, are no longer considered a psychological disorder. Muscle relaxants, selective denervation surgery, and other treatments are described. Contact numbers for the National Spasmodic Torticollis Association are also provided.

Botulinum toxin: Can a poison help?

Article Abstract:

The normally poisonous botulism toxin is being used in tiny quantities to inject into patients experiencing extreme muscle contractions. The paralyzing effect of the toxin is used to effect in conditions such as cerebral palsy.

Chocolate: is your passion also your poison?

Article Abstract:

No connection has been proved between chocolate and allergy, headaches, addiction or acne. Chocolate is high in fat, but there is no health concern in eating it in moderate amounts.
