Staying the course

Article Abstract:

Student nurse, Muna Musa, developed serious kidney problems during her course and she discusses her fight to be allowed to continue. Ms Muna had to do self-dialysis but she managed to do this in 30 minutes during a shift. However, staff became worried about the risk of infection and she was sent home. Unison became involved and other students protested on her behalf. She has been allowed to continue.

Break for the border: the Scots are demanding full government funding for all long-term care

Article Abstract:

Members of the Scottish Parliament's health and community care committee have called for the complete implementation of the 1999 Royal Commission on Long Term Care. This would involve the state funding all the care requirements of nursing home residents. The cost would be an estimated 110 million pounds sterling a year.
