Clinicopathologic Features of BRCA-Linked and Sporadic Ovarian Cancer

Article Abstract:

Some women with hereditary ovarian cancer may survive longer than women with non-hereditary ovarian cancer. This was the conclusion of a study of 933 women with ovarian cancer, 88 of whom had hereditary ovarian cancer linked to the BRCA genes. Although tissue samples from the tumors of all the women looked similar, the women with hereditary cancer lived longer after treatment than women with non-hereditary ovarian cancer.
