Several young female Iraqis are targeted and executed by extremist Islamic insurgents and others are threatened or assaulted as they dared to be modern women according to the aid organization Women for Women International. The violent oppression faced by the women is a shocking issue for Iraq's cosmopolitan, educated women who for years have voted and held jobs alongside men.

Who can save these women from rape?

Article Abstract:

The Silaya town of western Sudan faced a period of trauma during February 2003 due to war conflicts, since rape was the fundamental tool in the ethnic cleansing campaign. The women there were held hostage for five to six days and after raping them, they were slashed and hurt with a motive to spread fear all over.
