The Haemophilus influenzae type B (Hib) vaccine: A pre-launch qualitative study of parental perceptions

Article Abstract:

A survey undertaken among parents in November 1991 on behalf of the Health Education Authority was useful in assessing the best ways to promote the new Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) vaccine against bacterial meningitis in young children. Research looked at areas including information requirements, awareness of meningitis and Hib and reactions to the planned vaccination schedule, using qualitative research methods. The results have allowed appropriate public and professional promotional campaigns to be devised.
