The psychosocial effects of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident magnified The health consequences of the disaster. The psychosocial health damage caused by conflicting reports of the public health impact may have been more serious than the health effect of the radiation.

Article Abstract:

Newly identified infectious diseases include HIV infection, Ebola haemorrhagic fever, a respiratory disease caused by the sin nombre virus, hepatitis C and Legionnaires' disease. Global travel and resistance to antibiotics are factors in the emergence of these diseases.
