The body needs protein to get the 9 essential amino acids that it cannot make itself. Amino acids are need for growth and repair of tissue.A woman's diet should include at least 46g of protein each day, and a man needs at least 58g. Tips for getting enough proteins from sources other than meat are included.

Omega-3 fatty acids are important to include in the diet. Omega 6 fatty acids, also essential in the diet, are are found in peanut, corn and safflower oil, sunflower seeds. Omega-3 fatty acids are not are plentiful in the typical diet as Omega-6, and come in three forms.
