The reproducibility of centric relation: a clinical approach

Article Abstract:

A manipulative technique used to identify a reference point in the jaw's range of motion called the centric relation (CR) appears to provide consistent results as verified by wax bite forms. Thirty-nine dentists trained in this technique evaluated CR positions in one of five patients. CR positions were consistent within 0.1 millimeter. None of the patients were found to have abnormal jaw function. CR position records can be used to monitor treatment progress or dental history.
