The respiratory nurse specialist role at a medical assessment unit

Article Abstract:

The development and implementation of respiratory nurse practitioner roles at medical admissions unit are described. The aims of the respiratory nurse practitioner role are triage and prioritizing patients admitted with breathlessness, instigation of necessary investigations, initiating timely and appropriate treatment, and identifying patients for transfer to a respiratory ward or the early discharge team.

'We have a generation of nurses who do not perform many aspects of basic care'

Article Abstract:

The author expresses his opinions regarding the changes that are being made to the training provided to the nurses to ensure better healthcare system. He says that though few changes are necessary, the basic care fundamentals need to remain unchanged to provide complete satisfaction to the patients.
