The role of a flow coordinator in an emergency assessment unit

Article Abstract:

The methods used by the flow coordinator nurse at the emergency room of Birmingham Heartland Hospital are described. The flow coordinators duties include triage of patients, paperwork management and coordinating the flow of patients to other departments.

Making nurse-led discharge work to improve patient care

Nurse-led discharge work is discussed providing guidelines to improve patient care. However, some people believe that nurses are not taking on any new responsibilities when they undertake the process of nurse-led discharge.

How a clinical coordinator improved emergency care

A clinical ward coordinator's role was developed within an emergency admissions ward. The aim was to reduce each patient's length of stay on admissions ward and the waiting time for a bed in the emergency areas.
