The role of exercise in falls prevention for older patients

Article Abstract:

Fall prevention that is a major cause of disability and mortality due to injury in people over 75 years of age in the UK, is a key area of health promotion for all nurses who work with old people. It is suggested to use tEai chi for fall prevention, as it would enable nurses to look at the prevention interventions that they recommend and question the evidence for against their effectiveness.

NICE guidance on preventing and assessing falls in older people

Article Abstract:

Falls in older people are a significant problem causing both injury and loss of independence. New guidance from the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) on the assessment and prevention of falls clearly sets out evidence-based practice and is supported by patient and career information that highlights the need for a patient-centered approach to falls prevention.

New draft guidelines are prepared on the treatment and prophylaxis of meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The content of this guideline is presented and the development and management of MRSA bacteria is discussed.
