Tips on buying, selling a practice

Article Abstract:

Four factors make a medical practice valuable to both a buyer and a seller. These include specialty, income stream, office efficiency, and location. Doctors who are considering selling their practices should keep their offices running efficiently with up-to-date equipment. Primary care practices are easier to sell than specialties, and urban practices are preferable to rural ones. A practice should be lucrative enough to compete successfully against a staff position. Patient retention is one of the best indicators of a successful purchase.

Firms help patients settle with insurers - or doctors

Article Abstract:

Medical claims processing and adjustment companies help patients file their insurance claims and negotiate settlements if the insurance company refuses to pay a bill. The claims processing company may verify the treatment codes for insurance or negotiate a lower physician fee. Many clients of such companies are physically or mentally unable to file their own claims. Claims adjusters are generally paid from $40-$60 per hour.

Conflict can be a positive force; managed well, it can move a practice ahead

Article Abstract:

Conflict may exert a creative influence on an organization, because opposing opinions may have good points that can be adopted to further the aims of the group. According to counselors, medical groups should hold regular meetings to discuss conflicts that have arisen and to suggest solutions. Each member of the staff must feel free to express an opinion without fear of reprisal.
