Too familiar for words: considering unaccounted-for aspects of nurse's work

Article Abstract:

Some aspects of nurse's work are invisible to outsiders, including health care administrators, and therefore go uncompensated. Nurses report that assisting patients in working their way through the system is a big part of their job, but is largely unrecognized. This process includes patient education, patient advocation, mediation, and the more difficult-to-define extra steps that make the entire health care process work. Nurses describe this last concept as "making it happen."

Sexual health promotion in adolescents and young adults: primary prevention strategies

Article Abstract:

Sexual health promotion programs aimed at youth must be long-termed, well designed and research based. The risk factors associated with active sexual behavior is complex, but nurses can combat negative influences by involving peers in learning activities. Community involvement and political initiatives are also required in order to have successful educational programs.
