ANNOTATION: "HIV SPECIAL" The acute HIV-1 transmission and its early stages are illustrated. The focus is made on the predominant heterosexual transmission and simian immunodeficiency virus. These viruses establish persistent infection in Lymphatic tissue reservoir and comprise host defenses.
