Trends in HIV seroprevalence and risk among gay and bisexual men who inject drugs in San Francisco, 1988 to 2000

Article Abstract:

Many gay and bisexual drug addicts in San Francisco still engage in behaviors that increase their risk of HIV infection, such as needle sharing and unprotected anal sex. The number of gay and bisexual addicts who were HIV-positive decreased between 1988 and 1996 but then began to increase.

Persistent HIV incidence among injection drug users in San Francisco during the 1990s: Results of five studies

Article Abstract:

The report of extends annual HIV incidence estimates for infection drug users (IDUs) using specimens form 5 studies in San Francisco to assess trends drug the 1990s is presented. The 5 studies included diverse IDU populations recruited by different methods is discussed.

Sex- and drug-related risk among populations of younger and older injection drug users in adjacent neighborhoods in San Francisco

Article Abstract:

Young, homeless drug addicts may engage in behaviors that place them at risk of HIV infection. In a study of 56 young and 116 old drug addicts, young ones were more likely to share needles and have unprotected sex.
