Trust and the acceptance of and adherence to antiretroviral therapy

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on acceptance of and adherence to antiretroviral therapy among HIV-infected prisoners. Results demonstrate the therapeutic relationship and trust between the patient and physician are very important in antiretroviral therapy initiation process, and that antiretroviral therapy can be successfully administered in correctional settings.

HIV-1 infection among civilian applicants for US military service, 1985 to 2000: epidemiology and geography

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on HIV-1 prevalence among civilian applicants for US military service. The demographic and geographic correlates of these people have been examined, and the results suggest that HIV-1 prevalence is higher among African Americans and Hispanics than among white applicants.

Maternal characteristics associated with antenatal, intrapartum, and neonatal zidovudine use in four U.S. cities, 1994-1998

Article Abstract:

The authors have evaluated zidovudine use guideline implementation in HIV-infected women and their newborns. Results demonstrate that zidovudine use by pregnant HIV-infected women and their infants has increased since the publication of 1994 guidelines in the United States.
