R.I. lawmakers override veto of bill to curb hospital sales

Article Abstract:

Additional provisions in the bill increase the state health department's management of the entire healthcare industry. There are some concerns about the constitutionality of the legislation because for-profit hospitals are the focus of the legislation.

Article Abstract:

Tenet HealthcCorp. is looking to consolidate its position as the second- biggest publicly-traded hospital company following its acquisition of OrNda HealthCorp.
