Under dual control

Article Abstract:

The UK Prospective Diabetes Study, which was conducted over more than 20 years, has concluded that blood pressure and glucose control are important features in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. The study of 5,102 patients concluded that intensive control of blood pressure significantly reduces the risk of a number of conditions including diabetic retinopathy, heart failure and stroke. Intensive control of blood glucose leads to a significant lowering of the risk of microvascular problems and does not increase the risk of atheroma.
