Urocortin 2 and urocortin 3 are expressed by the human placenta, deciduas, and fetal membranes

Article Abstract:

The expression and localization in gestational tissues and their effect on placental adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) secretion is evaluated. Conclusion reveals that gestational tissues differentially express urocortin 2 (UCN2) and urocortin 3 (UCN3) and, despite their homology to corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF), they did not stimulate placental ACTH secretion.

Low-dose folic acid supplementation reduces plasma levels of the cardiovascular risk factor homocysteine in postmenopausal women

Article Abstract:

Folic acid can lower homocysteine levels in women, according to a study of 36 women. Women with the highest homocysteine levels had the greatest reductions. Elevated levels of homocysteine in the blood are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.

Randomized control study of the effects of raloxifene on serum lipids and homocysteine in older women

Article Abstract:

The drug raloxifene appears to lower blood levels of cholesterol and homocysteine in older women. This in turn would lower their risk of heart disease. Raloxifene is used as an alternative to estrogen replacement therapy.
