Using parent power to promote health

Article Abstract:

A team of health visitors won an award for innovation and creative practice for setting up a forum to encourage parent involvement in service planning. The achievements of the forum are setting up of a 10-to-2 club, which is a support group for parents, and a range of public health initiatives organized by an enthusiastic team of health visitors, nursery nurses, health care assistants and other support staff.

Using teamwork to save lives

Article Abstract:

Teamwork can be a real lifesaver, as is proved by a diverse and committed group of health service staff in Lancashire. Their work has received an award of Best Practice in Integrated Cardiac Care, as the multidisciplinary team was successful in cutting down the time it takes to ensure that patients with suspected heart attack receive the hospital care they require.

The experience of attempting to improve hand hygiene at University Hospital Lewisham, is described. The introduction of a yellow and red card scheme to improve awareness in this area, is highlighted.
