Validation of a short food frequency questionnaire for assessment of dietary calcium intake in women

Article Abstract:

The short food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) efficiently determines the average dietary calcium (Ca) intake in young and middle aged women. The questionnaire is highly specific in identifying women consuming < 800 mg of Ca/day. The questionnaire outperforms the general FFQs in computing group mean Ca intake. The difference between the recorded mean Ca intakes and those derived from the questionnaire are < 5% and statistically insignificant.

The role of macronutrient selection in determining patterns of food intake in obese and non-obese women

Article Abstract:

Selection, compensation, and habituation characterize the subject specific pattern of macronutrient intake in a study with obese and non-obese women. Both obese and non-obese subjects select carbohydrate food at breakfast and fatty food at dinner and compensate the intake of unusual macronutrient composition at dinner. Repeated intake of a particular macronutrient food results in habituation to it.
