Linda Winn, who was awarded a Nursing Times/Birmingham Hospitals Saturday Fund Travel Scholarship for 1998, describes her visit to the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in Palo Alto, California. The center is part of the Veterans' Affairs Department and provides specialist training to all its clinical staff. Winn secured a place at the training program.
