A woman whose mother had savored life decided to put a do-not-resuscitate order in when the mother became so ill that she would never get better. She wishes her family had communicated their wishes on the subjects of illness and death while they were well.

A Jewish family that did not celebrate Christmas usually went skiing or did some other activity on Dec 25, but one year they stayed home because they had a young daughter. The family spent the day together and had an emotionally meaningful experience.
