How the 'changing faces' fit into organized medicine

Article Abstract:

Organized medical groups such as the American Medical Association (AMA) must include women, gays and lesbians, international medical graduates, disabled physicians and others in their work and processes if they expect to fully represent the medical community. These doctors, however, also must look at organized medicine with an open mind and appreciate its accomplishments. As health care reform is implemented, groups like the AMA offer the best, most experienced and powerful voice to represent the concerns of physicians.

Tort reform dropped from product liability bill; future dim

Article Abstract:

The American Medical Association is pressuring Congress to address health care liability issues. Capped noneconomic damages in malpractice suits are a key concern for the medical community. Health care liability reforms included in the Common Sense Legal Reform Act were excluded from the bill by the Senate. Proponents are pushing for a free-standing tort reform bill or the inclusion of tort reforms in a more extensive health care reform bill.
