Article Abstract:

There are 2,000 physician/attorneys practicing in the US. The complexity of health care has resulted in greater intersections of both practices. These dual-degree holders are working in important positions in the government, in business and in academia. There has been mistrust of both practices for each other but dual practitioners are breaking down some of the barriers. The intersection of medicine and law are becoming apparent in issues, such as abortion, right-to-die and the rights of minors.

Physician organizations find niche in managed care market

Article Abstract:

Physicians are banding together into physician organizations that negotiate independent contracts with insurers. The physician organizations are popular with insurers; in addition, they avoid the pitfalls of physician-hospital organizations, with complicated negotiations and battles for power between the physicians and the hospital. Successful physician organizations have strong, professional leadership and are well-capitalized.
