Written clinic procedures enhance delivery of HIV 'prevention with positives' counseling in primary health care settings

Article Abstract:

Receipt for HIV prevention counseling by patients seen in clinics funded by the Ryan White CARE Act. is a major source of support for HIV primary care. HIV-infected patients in clinics with written procedures were significantly more likely to report receiving HIV prevention counseling in the last six months than patients in clinics with no procedures.

Translation, adaptation, and synthesis of interventions for persons living with HIV: Lessons from previous HIV prevention interventions

Article Abstract:

Three areas relevant to dissemination of 'prevention with positive' (PWP) research are discussed, namely, the current process by which interventions are transferred, the utility of synthesizing core elements from comparable interventions to facilitate adaptations in practice settings, and the importance of efficacy and program effectiveness studies.

Early detection of HIV: assessing the legislative context

Article Abstract:

State laws that may have a negative impact on HIV testing and early detection of HIV are discussed. These laws cover topics such as the confidentiality of HIV test results, mandatory name-based HIV reporting, partner notification, testing of newborn babies, and criminalizing the non-disclosure of HIV status in sexual situations.
