Informal thinkering - how is it important?

Article Abstract:

Innovation processes or technical change generation processes initiated within the firms were investigated. The study examined the assumption that the element of technical and technological change affecting productivity growth is mediated on the basis of informal thinkering within plants. Pulp and paper mills in Canada and India were compared to analyze the pattern of technical and technological change and its effect on productivity growth. The importance of managing change as a continuous process at the firm level was also discussed.
