Technology development in Thailand: a private sector view

Article Abstract:

The technology development policy of Thailand is evaluated as it relates to economic growth. AWorld Bank study shows that differences between capital imports and value-addedexports is increasing and that the private investment index is decreasing. Thisimplies that the technological investments are not achieving expected returns and that the country's competitive position is declining. Technology development is seen as the key for correcting these problems. The country is expected to be the next newly-industrialized state in the Southeast Asian region.

Strategies for business innovation: evaluating the prospects of incubation in Thailand

Article Abstract:

A feasability study on the implementation of a business incubation strategy in Thailand is discussed. Technology based products and services should encourage universities and government agncies to develop technology. Results indicate that Thai entrepreneurs are more business service oriented than innovation-oriented. Any innovation center can provide techno-based business service and research and development if it emphasizes private sector invovement. There is a need for an integrated effort for the government with business-related agencies.

Technology policy and the development of small and medium scale enterprises in contemporary Nigeria

Article Abstract:

An evaluation of Nigeria's technology policy reveals that it has to be reevaluated so that it aligns with the industrial policy of developing small to medium scale enterprises (SMEs). Technology policies are found to lack selectivity and focus on SMEs while the industrial policies of the country are found to be well focused and have ample scope for the development of SMEs in the country.
