Joshua Bolten, White House chief of staff

Article Abstract:

Joshua Bolten was appointed as chief of staff to President George W. Bush in March 28, 2006, which entails duties such as managing the president's schedule, deciding policy recommendations to address for president, and generally overseeing activity in the West Wing of the White House. As a director of the Office of Management and Budget in 2003 Bolton created budget policies for US military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, for Medicare, and for the government's response to the flooding and devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Stephen Hadley, U.S. national security adviser

Article Abstract:

Stephen Hadley was appointed as national security adviser in January 2005, a role in which he is responsible for reviewing information and deciding which foreign-policy issues are deserving of the president's attention. Hadley was one of the architects of the U.S. policy in Iraq as deputy national security adviser during the U.S. President George W. Bush's first term, where he earned particular notoriety for his role in a controversy surrounding a false intelligence claim that was used to justify the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.
