Patricia Goldman-Rakic

Article Abstract:

Patricia Goldman-Rakic, a neurologist was born in Salem, Massachusetts on April 22, 1937 and is widely recognized for her research on the brain's prefrontal cortex and working memory that is necessary for recalling. She described the frontal lobe of the brain, as 'a gray, tinkled chunk of tissue tucked behind the forehead, taking up about a third of the total brain mass, just like a CEO is to a modern corporation'.

Richard Carmona

U.S. surgeon general and physician, Richard Henry Carmona was born in New York City on November 22, 1949. He is the 17th surgeon general of the United States and the second Hispanic holding the position. He has spent his career in the field of emergency medicine and is known for his uncommon expertise in medical aspects of preparedness for bioterrorist attacks or other forms of terrorism.
