Brazil and ISO 9000
Article Abstract:
Brazil has been very active in ISO 9000 implementation, and the number of Brazilian companies with ISO 9000 certification reached 1,700 in 1997. The country has experienced significant economic difficulties, but its strong emphasis on quality has ensured that its companies are now enjoying a revival. The quality movement in Brazil began in the 1970s, when Brazilian engineers, including some quality assurance staff, went to Germany to learn about nuclear power plant technology.
