Article Abstract:
Simon Winchester, who intended to pursue a career in geology found himself to be incompetent as geologist and got his breakthrough as writer by publishing 'The Professor and the Madman' in 1998. Winchester was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by queen of England in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace in 2006 and still continues to contribute articles to the US and British publications, like Harper's, Smithsonian, National Geographic, and the Spectator.

Alma Guillermoprieto who was born and raised in Mexico became a reporter in 1970's and covered the life in Latin American countries. She is the first recipient of the Samuel Chavkin Prize for Integrity in Latin American Journalism.
