Walker, Margaret

Article Abstract:

Margaret Walker was considered an important figure in 20th-century African American literature. She used imagery inspired by the Southern landscape of her childhood and innocence as well as from the Bible and wisdom literature of the East. Among her famous works include 'Ballad of the Free,' 'This Is My Century: New and Collected Poems' and 'Prophets for a New Day.'

Article Abstract:

Margaret J. Geller, born Dec 8, 1947 in Ithaca, NY, is better known for her contributions in science and science education. She has done surveys pertaining to the distribution of galaxies in the universe. Her three-dimensional maps show that galaxies are organized in huge patterns that look like soap suds.
