19th century British packet agency postmarks in the USA

Article Abstract:

Around 1842, British mail was received for shipment abroad by UK postal agents in Charleston, SC, Mobile, AL, New Orleans, LA, New York, NY, and Savannah, GA. Covers with these distinct British postmarks are now quite valuable. The British mail was carried away on Cunard Lines steamers.

Easter Island covers are rarely encountered

Article Abstract:

Easter island is in the South Pacific and is known for its hundreds of carved human busts. The island has one post office and air mail delivery only started in 1967 to the Chilean colony. Covers are rare became of this isolation. The island's early history and archeology is discussed.

USS Sea Robin went 'round the horn' in 1947

An envelope has been collected that verifies the sailing of an American ship around Cape Horn at the tip of South America. The history and geography of the Horn is recounted as well as a history of the ship, Sea Robin and its voyage. The cover carried by the vessel is depicted.
