The design and construction of the Minolta Maxxum 9 camera is presented. The exterior of this automatic focus SLR is cast aluminum alloy with a polycarbonate inner shell. The built-in flash feature is a first for professional cameras and one which photographers have been asking companies to include in the products. The dial controls are easy to understand and the camera boasts 21 custom functions. The price has not been set by the company but will be competitive to the Canon EOS A2E annd the EOS-1N. The field test results are noted.
