Article Abstract:

On June 22, 1995, a new $3 priority mail stamp was dedicated at a first day ceremony. The design features the Challenger, which was first to carry a woman, Sally Ride. The seven-day Challenger mission began June 18, 1983. Information on obtaining an official first day cover is provided.

First day of issue ceremonies were held at the Vietnam War Memorial on May 30, 1995. A much decorated prisoner escapee from that war, Capt Isaac Camacho was honored. The captain's feats are described and information on obtaining a poster of the artwork on the stamp, is provided.
