Bringing home the blue

Article Abstract:

C.W. Hayward's amazonite collection date back to 1946 when he found the blue-green stones at Crystal Peak, Colorado. The largest amazonites and smoly crystals are normally on the hanging wall, with flourites and goethites in the bottom of the pocket.

The Bad Boys of Cripple Creek mine allows collectors to prospect for turquoise. The mine is in Cripple Creek, CO, about 45 west of Colorado Springs. The prospecting fee is $15 per hour for individuals.

Gone rockin'

Bill Gould has designed a rock screen which facilitates rock collecting. It is called the B and L Rocker. It is an upright collapsible rocker screen. Directions for construction and usage are provided.
