Article Abstract:

The high prices that ancient Native American artifacts command have resulted in the looting and desecration of graveyards and historic sites. Cooperation between archaeologists and law enforcement agencies and the passage of appropriate legislation should reduce the occurrence of these crimes.

Shedding light

Atlanta's Illumina Gallery that is owned by jewelry designer Lainey Papageorge and husband David Van Nostrand houses the works of about 70 jewelry and lapidary artists. The gallery which opened in 1987 is situated inside Atlanta's Tula Studios.

Happy accidents

Article Abstract:

Ed Taylor's stone carvings are mostly animal-shaped, which he refines with 150-grit wet sandpaper and jewelers' rouge. His carvings are considered accidental because he merely continues carving a stone until an image begins to form as a result.
