Cutting an opal triplet

Article Abstract:

The fire that look so bright in a piece of opal rough, turns out to be a thin band of fire when it the piece is cut. An opal triplet consists of three parts - quartz top, opal center and black backing. Method to cut an opal triplet with list of materials required is given.

Cutting Mexican jelly opal

Article Abstract:

Jelly opal that will be used for rock carving projects should first be examined rough dry before looking at it wet. A penlight flashlight should be used in selecting rough to ascertain the play-of-color. The stone should then be cut under a good light.

Cutting an opal triplet
