Epistolary riposte on a Golden Leica plus a small cache of curious Japanese 35s

Article Abstract:

A reader's query about the worth of a gold-plated Leica believed to be a fake from Russia is answered by an expert collector. He believes the camera is actually an original and worth between $500-$1,000. Three old models - the Nikon S, the Olympus 35 and the Aries Viscount - are discussed.

Three ancient Japanese SLRs you won't find in the collector's guides, and one Japanese classic you can nab for a song

Article Abstract:

The Soligor 35 is an SLR camera made in Japan in the 1950s and virtually identical to the Firstflex 35 made by the Tokiwa Seiki Co. The Pentaflex is a high-tech version made in 1955. A more commonly found collectible Japanese camera from the 1950s is the Samoca 35 III.

Another "who made this Japanese 35?" plus a pair of unique rangefinder 35s of the fab '50s

The T.K.C. is a 35mm camera made for export by the Taisei Koki Co of Japan. Other collectible cameras described include the Royal 35, the Asco 35 and the Bolsey Reflex.
