F3J - thermal duration competition

Article Abstract:

The US team for the first F3J model airplane competition will be selected during the 1997 AMA Nationals. The competition, which will be held in the UK in 1998, will feature hand-tow launches and man-on-man scoring. Other rules include a 10-min. launch and fly time and landing area penalties.

Aileron to flap mixing

Article Abstract:

Aileron-to-flap mixing will minimize control-surface deflection, speed roll rate and enhance turning capabilities of model airplanes. Transmitter settings for camber-to-flap mix should first be determined. Composite construction applications of unidirectional materials are also discussed.
