FDCs attract many collectors

Article Abstract:

Collecting first day covers, envelopes with cancellations on the same day the stamp was issued, is popular. The covers can be obtained at ceremonies that accompany the first day of stamp issuing. Few of the covers go through the mail, but those that do are more nostalgic.
