Several motorboat gas engine manufacturers will introduce new products in 1998. These companies include Outboard Marine Corp, Mercury Marine, Mariner, Force Outboards Div, MerCruiser, Suzuki Marine and Yamaha Marine Div. Their new gas engines are more powerful and fuel efficient.

Several gasoline engines for motorboats are presented. These include MerCruiser's 454 MAG MPI Horizon which is almost maintenance-free, Crusader Engines' carbureted and EFI models, Flagship Marine's EFI engines ranging from 250 to 675 hp, and Indmar's 5.7-ltr Gen I+ motor.
