The Robin

A description is presented of the design and construction of a model airplane named the Robin. It has a wingspan of 72-inches, weighs 110-ounces and is controlled by a 5-channel radio. Full plans for the model are included.

Flying with high-lift devices: enhance performance with flaps

Article Abstract:

Model airplanes may be slowed with flaps fully deployed and nosed down by up to 45 degrees to the horizontal. The flap drag limits the terminal velocity of the plane, eliminating the possibility of stalling. A discussion of flight principles is presented.

Design for aerobatics

Article Abstract:

Some tips on how to design aerobatic model airplanes are presented, particularly with regards to selection of wing area and airfoil section. Five model aircraft with wing areas ranging from 500-800 sq. in. have been analyzed to better understand the selection process.
