Several Global Positioning Systems for boats are available on the market. These systems, which are priced from $89 to more than $12,000, feature various types of way-point slots and position readouts. Screen sizes come between 5 in to 10.4 in.

GPS: a new generation

Differential GPS (DGPS) receivers provide 15-ft accuracy by comparing a known location with the reported position. DGPS technologies being developed by electronics manufacturers are discussed.
