High-altitude test bed

Article Abstract:

Centurion is a 1/4 scale ultralight model aircraft created by the AeroVironment Inc. Design Development Center under NASA's sponsorship. The model, which has a 62.5 foot wing span, is a precursor for a full-scale, solar-powered version for meteorological purposes.

Modeller Claudio Marcotulli maintains that his attempt to fly beside his sailplane El Chuti was a wonderful experience. Marcotulli organized a team of paragliders descending with the sailplane and there were no problems encountered during the flight.

USRA World Championships

Article Abstract:

The 1998 Unlimited Scale Racing Assn (USRA) World Championship Air Race was held in Jean, NV. Giant-scale model airplanes competed in six classes that include Experimental, Unlimited, AT-6, Formula One, Thompson Trophy and Biplane.
