Mokume Gane

Article Abstract:

Mokume Gane, or wood-grain metal, is an ancient Japanese technique that was initially developed by sword-smiths for decorative purposes in which various layers of metals are stacked together and bonded into solid billet or small brick. Stepwise procedure of the preparation of the metal is discussed, in which inexpensive metals such as copper, brass, and nickel or more expensive metal such a gold and platinum can be used.
