A brief accounting is given of the life of the pope. He is known as the most travelled pope and countries sometimes issue commemorative stamps to mark his visit. A listing of Scott catalog numbers for stamps honoring the pope issued by the Vatican City and other countries, is provided.

France honors multi-talented Jean Cocteau
Article Abstract:
Cocteau contributed much to France's culture with his diverse artistic talents. He achievements as a writer, artist, playwright, filmmaker and poet were recognized with the issuance of a stamp in Apr 1993. Cocteau has previously been honored twice on postage stamps.
