Small SLRs that can autofocus in the dark? Well, why not?

Article Abstract:

Innovations in single lens reflex cameras miss the mark in not providing autofocusing capabilities in low light. The Chinon Genesis camera models are the only ones with active and passive autofocus systems. The active mechanism is able to identify the subject's 'lines and contrast' without much light.

Article Abstract:

Technological innovations in still cameras have contributed to substantial increase in color negative film usage. Over 78% of all film sold is for color prints. Slide film accounts for only 4%. Many of the newer autofocus and point-and-shoot cameras have exposure systems which favor prints.

Single lens reflex cameras (SLR) have come a long way since the introduction of automatic controls and autofocus mechanisms. A review of these innovations and possible improvements are presented.
