The French islands known as St. Pierre et Miquelon, which are located off Canada's Atlantic Coast, has a colorful philatelic history. Its stamps are prized by collectors, as are some covers of stamps mailed to the islands. Mail sent to the islands is sometimes routed to other places by mistake.

Article Abstract:

The duck stamps are revenue stamps and date from 1918 from an early migratory bird treaty with Canada. Another treaty was made between Mexico and The US in 1936. A new federal conservation policy for wetlands in 1934, introduced a new program on migratory ducks and other birds.
